Games

*BANG! - Get a container or box; fill it with 20 sight words/letters/numbers cards. Then make three cards with the word “Bang”. Mix everything up and start pulling out cards. If your child knows what is on the card, they keep it.  If they pull out a BANG, they must put all their cards back in the container/box. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game wins. Continue to play until you are tired, or a certain amount of cards are pulled.  

*Bean Bag Hopscotch- Draw the hopscotch squares using sidewalk chalk.  Write letters or sight words in hopscotch squares.  Then toss a beanbag or object into a square.  Then have your child say the word before they hop.  Then hop to the word.

*Shaving Cream Game- Write letters, sight words, or numbers with shaving cream on the table or in the bathtub.

*Flashlight Tag- Using sight words/numbers/letters-make flashcards or post its and tape them all over the house, turn the lights off and look for words with a flashlight.

*Bingo with sight words, letters, and numbers. (Stores sell them or online)

*Tic-Tac-Toe with sight words, letters, or numbers.  Write words, letters, or numbers in the tic-tac-toe boxes.  If the player can read it then they place an X or an O.  The objective is to get 3 in a row.

Math Games

Collect 10 is a game made for two people. Each player will need a regular dice and 10 counters. The players place their counters in the middle of the table and each roll the dice. The player with the higher roll scores a counter. If both players roll the same number they both score a counter. The first player to collect 10 counters is the winner.

Variations of Collect 10

The player with the lower number scores the counter.

Addition: Same as Collect 10, but each student has two dice and the total is obtained by adding the numbers rolled. The player with the highest total scores a counter.

Race to Trace- Can be played alone or with a partner. Write the numbers 1-6 on a piece of paper up to 4 times. The kids roll a die and trace that numeral with a crayon. They repeat until all of the numbers are traced.

More or Less? - To play the game the child grabs a handful of cubes or any 2 things from home (2 different colors.) The child counts how many of each color cubes they grabbed and writes the numerals down. The child circles whatever number is bigger.

Yahtzee-This is a cross out activity for at least two players. Each player writes the numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 on a piece of paper. They take turns rolling two dice, players will add both numbers rolled and cross out the total of the dice on his/her piece of paper. The first player to cross out all the numbers is the winner.
